About Us

Calvary Baptist Church in Ellensburg, WA has had its AWANA ministry in place for over 30 years. Originally the club met in public school gymnasiums, but then moved it into Calvary Baptist’s facility on Vantage Hwy. before finally landing here in the Liberty Theater buildings. Over the years we have drawn children from our own church, children who were unchurched, and children from other local churches. This is truly a ministry to the community.

Here you’ll learn about our General Leadership, be sure to check out the other pages covering the rest of our leaders.

“Whether in a shack or in a mansion, I have the perfect Builder!”

Favorite verse: Psalms 127:1

Josh Tuckness

Assistant Commander

I have been involved with the AWANA ministry since i was a freshman in high school in 2008.  I have been a sparks leader, assistant game director, and assistant director. I love the kids and love to see them having fun.

laura-landonLaura Landon

General Secretary

I started volunteering with AWANA in 2007. I have three boys and seeing the life changing impact that AWANA had on their lives motivated me to become more than just an AWANA parent. I am honored to have the privilege to work with an amazing group of dedicated, Godly volunteers within this ministry and to work with the children who come through our doors.

In over thirty years here at Calvary Baptist, I have been blessed to see first our two children and now two of our grandchildren involved in AWANA. We thank God for this ministry and recommend it without hesitation!

Web Developer

Although having moved to Boise, ID over the summer, I am still providing tech support and web development to the Ellensburg AWANA.  Lord willing, I’ll be able to make to it a few of the nights this year, and look forward to seeing all of the awesome kids and their smiling faces!
